I’m working out at my local gym nowadays and I use the treadmill for running. Would it be entirely different from running outside around my neighbourhood, or would the differences between the two be very small?

There is no big difference but if you want to get the same experience in the gym like you would if you were outside then you should speed up the paste that your running then lower the paste and this will simulate running up hills

I’m 47, female, and need to lose about 60 pounds. I prefer working out indoors, as I’m prone to joint inflammation flare-ups. I have space for only one medium to large-sized piece of exercise equipment. What would be best considering that (genetically) I already have a fairly high muscle to fat ratio, my weight is almost totally between my gut and my knees, and I’d like to retain as much of my small bustline as possible?

i would get an elliptical
its good for arms and legs
they make ones that fold up now if you need extra space

It was an infomercial on Lifetime TV( I think) recently. I like step aerobics and this had an extra option since it is curved on one side. I can’t remember the name and have not seen the infomercial again. Also has anyone tried it out?
Thanks and I appreciate any input.

I think you are talking about the firmwave:
http://www.thefirmwave.com/
I have not tried it though.
Good Luck

So I have done my share of crunches and sit-ups on the floor and it usually hurts my back and takes at least 20 reps to feel it.

I just gym equipment today for the first time with a lil over 50lbs and felt it right away.

My back still hurt but I’m wondering which is a better workout for my abs.

So which is better?

Well everyday when i came home i used to do 500 crunches and in a week i had abs, so i say the at home method works just fine.

If I already have my degree Management Information Systems how would you go about getting a masters in biology to teach science in school or and coaching soccer. What would be your suggestion. So as you can tell I changed my mind after I graduated thats about it. …. What biology major should i study if I wanna do research on animals or the enviromental habitats, maybe even study the affects on how the earth is changing. I am not sure yet. thanks for your help

try this: before you go to bed, try to force yourself to think you’ll have a dream about your question. when you have the dream you’ll have an answer

I am just graduating fitness and health promotion and i have my CFC and CPT which are certified fitness consultant and certified personal trainer. we get these through CSEP. but what other certifications can i take to stand out and make me a better personal trainer.

Usually after you get your personal trainer cert. the next thing to get is your nutrition specialist certification. You get this so you can add more value to yourself by prescribing your clients meal plans and guidelines for healthy eating. Not eveyone likes to eat the same things so so can adjust their individual programs to what they like but still get what they need. Also, your average person that is working out is going to eat completely different than a high level athlete.

You can also get your advanced PT. That makes you look better than just having the regular PT cert.

My boyfriend just got his nutrition specialist from IFPA and he thought it was top notch. I have only taken there PT cert and I feel that its the best after shopping around and then my experience with them. When I have to recertify I plan on doing the nutrition specialist also. There website it www.ifpa-fitness.com

Hope this help. Good Luck!

hi guys, im 15 years old and im looking for a membership at athletic club but i cant seem to find how much a membership would cost or if i was even old enough to go. Thanks

ur never too young to join a club. I belong to Fitness 19 and its cheap too…but they all have different amenities…some have pools, track, etc which costs more. Check out the 1’s near u and call em. Cant’ hurt.

i need help with a exercise plan. i have aerobic exercises and strength training. what days should i do them, should they be done on seperate days?

You should do some aerobic every day. Some say strength training every other day and others say strength training every day as long as you alternate muscle groups (the muscles need some recovery time)

I just started taking a step aerobics class and I have no idea how many calories I’m burning. The class is 30 minutes of stepping and 20 minutes of abs and free weights. The step is approx. 10" high (I don’t use any risers). I’m 5′-5" about 190 lbs. I’m doing other physical activities on the days I don’t have class, but just need to know about the calories during step aerobics class.

It dependss on whether it is high intensity or low intensity, but on average, aerobics step classes burn high amounts of calories….at your weight, you’re burning anywhere from 300 to 450 calories during the step part, and probably around 150 during the abs/weight part.

Running fast isn't the only
way to get fit. Take on these
inclines, and comment here.
